National Wetlands Inventory - established to generate information about the characteristics, extent and status of the nation's wetlands and deepwater habitats.

USDA's Conservation Program - describes the various USDA programs available to assist people with their conservation needs.

U.S. Geological Survey's "Science in Your Watershed" - provides scientific information organized on a watershed basis.

Water Quality Information Center - focus on the effect of agriculture on water quality.


AGENCIES

Biological Resources Division of USGS - a division of the U.S. Geological Survey whose mission is to work with others to provide the scientific understanding and technologies needed to support the sound management and conservation of U.S. biological resources.

Bureau of Land Management (BLM) - responsible for managing 264 million acres of land and about 300 million additional acres of subsurface mineral resources.

Bureau of Reclamation - a federal agency of the U.S. Department of the Interior whose mission is to manage, develop, and protect water and related resources in an environmentally and economically sound manner in the interest of the American public.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)- a federal agency whose mission is to protect human health and to safeguard the natural environment - air, water and land - upon which life depends.

EPA Office of Pesticide Programs - mission to protect public health and the environment from the risks posed by pesticides and to promote safer means of pest control.

EPA Office of Wetlands, Oceans & Watersheds - works with partners to protect America's water resources, and monitors water quality and polluted runoff in watersheds.

National Marine Fisheries Service - administers NOAA's programs which support the domestic and international conservation and management of living marine resources.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) - has information on air temperature, climate, commercial fisheries, endangered species, greenhouse effect, habitat protection, rainfall prediction, weather models, wetlands, and other topics.

USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service - a federal agency that works in partnership with the American people to conserve and sustain our natural resources. This site contains general information, technical resources and detailed information about the various NRCS programs.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - regulates activities in the nation's water including wetlands.

USDA's Farm Service Agency, Conservation and Environmental Programs Division - administers programs and activities to protect the economic stability of American farmers and to promote the conservation of natural resources.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service - a federal agency working with others to conserve, protect and enhance fish and wildlife and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people.

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) - a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Interior that provides the nation with reliable, impartial information to describe and understand the earth.

Association for the Environmental Health of Soils - created to facilitate communication and foster communication among professionals concerned with the challenge of soil protection and cleanup.

Defenders of Wildlife - dedicated to the protection of all native wild animals and plants in their natural communities.

Ducks Unlimited - mission to fulfill the annual life cycle needs of North American water fowl by protecting, enhancing, restoring and managing important wetlands and associated uplands.

Ecological Society of America - a non-partisan, nonprofit organization of scientists founded in 1915 to stimulate sound ecological research and promote the responsible application of ecological knowledge to public issues.

Environmental Council of the States - the national non-profit, non-partisan association of state and territorial environmental commissioners.

Environmental Defense Fund - representing 300,000 members, combines science, economics, and law to find economically sustainable solutions to environmental problems.

Environmental Working Group - a leading content provider for public interest groups and concerned citizens who are campaigning to protect the environment.

Everglades Foundation - part of Save Our Everglades Organizations, with a mission to pursue solution oriented and taxpayer neutral approaches to preserving and protecting the haunting splendor of the Florida Everglades ecosystem.

League of Conservation Voters - works to create a Congress more responsive to environmental concerns.

National Association of Conservation Districts - non-governmental, nonprofit organization that represents nearly 3,000 conservation districts across the nation.

National Association of Resource Conservation and Development Councils - established in 1988 to represent America's 315 Resource Conservation and Development Councils.

National Audubon Society - mission to conserve and restore natural focusing on birds and other wildlife for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity.

National Endangered Species Act Reform Coalition - lobbying organization composed of rural irrigators, municipalities, farmers and electric utilities dedicated to seeking legislative reform of the Endangered Species Act.

National Resources Defense Council - working to preserve the nation's resources and environment for future generations.

National Water Resources Association - a non-profit federation of state organizations whose membership includes rural water districts, municipal waster entities, commercial companies and individuals.

National Wildlife Federation - the nation's largest member-supported conservation education and advocacy organization.

National Wildlife Refuge Association - the only national membership conservation organization devoted solely to the protection, perpetuation and expansion of the National Wildlife Refuge System.

Nature Conservancy - international nonprofit organization whose primary purpose is to protect ecologically significant natural areas and the life they shelter.

Soil Science Society of America - the professional home for over 6,000 professional throughout the world dedicated to the advancement of soil science.

Sierra Club - a national non-profit public interest organization that promotes conservation of the natural environment by influencing public policy decisions.

The Wilderness Society - founded in 1935, it works to protect America's wilderness and to develop a nation-wide network of wild lands through public education, scientific analysis and advocacy.

Wildlife Management Institute - a private, nonprofit, scientific and educational organization committed to the conservation, enhancement and professional management of North America's wildlife and other natural resources.

World Resources Institute - provides information, ideas and solutions to global environmental problems.

World Wildlife Fund - the world's largest independent conservation organization with 4.7 million supporters and a global network active in some 100 countries, whose mission is to protect nature and biological diversity.

Worldwatch Institute - dedicated to fostering the evolution of an environmentally sustainable society - one in which human needs are met in ways that do not threaten the health of the natural environment or the prospects of future generations.
