bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Agriculture,

A BILL
To amend the Food
Security Act of 1985 to suspend the requirement that rental payments under
the conservation reserve program be reduced by reason of harvesting or
grazing conducted in response to a drought or other emergency.
Be it enacted by the
Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in
Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SUSPENSION OF RENTAL
PAYMENT REDUCTION FOR HARVESTING OR GRAZING CONDUCTED IN RESPONSE TO DROUGHT
OR OTHER EMERGENCY.
Section 1232(a)(7)(A)(iii)
of the Food Security Act of 1985 (16 U.S.C. 3832(a)(7)(A)(iii)) is amended
by inserting before the semicolon the following: `, except that this clause
shall not apply during the 2002 calendar year'.
