the Department of Agriculture program to accept subsequent employment with
the Federal Government, without loss of their payments, when such employment
is directly related to fighting forest fires.

determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions
as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned
A BILL
To authorize former
Federal employees who receive voluntary separation incentive payments under
the Department of Agriculture program to accept subsequent employment with
the Federal Government, without loss of their payments, when such employment
is directly related to fighting forest fires.
Be it enacted by the
Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in
Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. REEMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
FOR RECIPIENTS OF VOLUNTARY SEPARATION INCENTIVE PAYMENTS UNDER DEPARTMENT
OF AGRICULTURE PROGRAM.
Section 735(e) of the Agriculture,
Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations
Act, 1997 (Public Law 104-180; 110 Stat. 1604; 5 U.S.C. 5597 note), is
amended--
(1) by striking `An individual'
and inserting the following:
`(1) FORFEITURE OF INCENTIVE
PAYMENT- An individual'; and
(2) by adding at the end
the following new paragraph:
`(2) EXCEPTION- The forfeiture
requirement in paragraph (1) shall not apply if the subsequent employment
or personal services contract is directly related to fighting forest fires.'.
