SANTORUM) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred
to the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry
A BILL
To continue for 2000 the Department of Agriculture program to
provide emergency assistance to dairy producers.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. ASSISTANCE TO DAIRY PRODUCERS FOR ECONOMIC LOSSES INCURRED DURING
2000.
The Secretary of Agriculture shall use $500,000,000 of funds of the
Commodity Credit Corporation to provide assistance directly to dairy producers
to compensate the producers for economic losses incurred during 2000. The
Secretary shall make the assistance available in the same manner as the
Secretary provided such assistance to dairy producers under section 805
of the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and
Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2000 (7 U.S.C. 1421 note; Public Law
106-78).
