May 3, 2000

Farmland Industries, the largest U.S. farmer-owned cooperative, named Robert W. Honse as its new president and chief executive officer, succeeding Harry Cleberg, REUTERS reports.

Honse will take over September 1, 2000. Cleberg will stay on as a consultant to Honse until December.

Honse, a 27-year Farmland employee, has been the co-op's chief operating officer since February 1999. He has a degree in chemical engineeering and began work as a plant manager in the co-op's big fertilizer operations.
