Tyson Foods Creates New VP Position

Tyson Foods, Inc. has announced the appointment of a new senior-level position within the company, that of senior vice president, commodity and trading risk management, and named Jean Mrha Beach to the position. She will report to Tyson CEO, John Tyson.
Tyson said, "We said last September that we would evaluate the needs of the new company we created, and where necessary, bring in talent to meet the demands of our role as the world's premier protein provider. This position addresses our company's critical need to manage, evaluate and act decisively on vital information across many different operating functions."
He said Beach would work to identify risk factors in the company's management activities with a focus on wholesale commodity markets. She will help assess and leverage off the intrinsic market share that Tyson represents in beef, chicken and pork.
"In fact, we believe the scale of our commodity presence in these different areas which, if managed aggressively, will have a positive impact on the bottom line," he added
Beach will be responsible for identifying and evaluating market opportunities and risk factors in the company's commodity management activities, and devising a broad strategy for maximizing economic returns within the opportunities provided.
She has 13 years of experience across a broad range of activities relevant to the new job, including economic analysis, trading, risk management, strategic initiative due diligence and P&L responsibility. She holds an undergraduate degree from Wellesley College and an MBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago.
