Farm Bureau Seeks to Educate Young Farmers

The American Farm Bureau Federation has scheduled a "World Congress of Young Farmers" Feb. 20-24, 2000, in Orlando, FL.  The purpose is to provide young farmers worldwide "the chance to hear from noted international experts, focus on cultural similarities and work toward cooperative answers to the challenges they face."

Dr. Jacques Diouf, director general of the United Nations' Food and Agricultural Organization, is to deliver the keynote address.  AFBF President Dean Kleckner also will be a featured speaker.

Other speakers will include political analyst John Stoessinger, native of Austria and the author of 10 books on world politics, and author Chin-Ning Chu, a native of China who serves as president of the Asian Marketing Consultants, Inc., and chairs the Strategic Learning Institute.  Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman has been invited to speak.

The congress will include six tours to Florida agricultural operations and research facilities, six mini-conferences on topics from the Internet to global food security, 10 round table discussions and an agricultural trade show.
