More GSM Allocations for Korea

April 22

USDA will accept registrations for more sales of U.S. livestock products to South Korea under the GSM-102 program.  Exporters now can register another $30 million in beef sales, $12 million more in pork, another $25 million in hides and skins and another $10 million in leather.

On March 29, USDA extended $1 billion in GSM-102 allocations for sales of a wide range of agricultural, fish and wood products to South Korea.  Allocations of $503 million were made immediately available with the remainder to be made available as needed.

GSM-102 sales registrations have exhausted the active credit lines for beef, pork, hides and skins and leather, so the additional amounts previously announced now are being made available for sales of these products.

"We are determined to do everything we can to help soften the blow on U.S. livestock producers, who continue to face weak prices resulting from the global financial crisis and other market developments," said Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman in announcing the credits.
