Canadian Company Recalls Salami from U.S. Market
November 29, 1999
Fleetwood Sausage Company, a Canadian meat processor, voluntarily is recalling salami from the U.S. market that may be contaminated with a harmful strain of E. coli. USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service says about 13,000 pounds of the products subject to the recall were imported into the United States and distributed in Seattle, Northern California, Alabama and Florida.
Fleetwood is recalling all Schneiders salami products distributed in U.S. markets. Products are pre-sliced, packaged in seven to nine ounce packages and bear the Canadian establishment number 592. The recall action is being taken because of illnesses associated with Fleetwood products in British Columbia and subsequent tests on products shipped to the United States.
Consumers with questions about the recall may phone Fleetwood Sausage Company, Jeff Parker, at (604) 576-1191.
