Hawaiian Sausage Recalled Due to Listeria

June 21

A Waipahu, Hawaii, processing company has voluntarily recalled about 9,620 pounds of a sausage product that may be contaminated with listeria. Subject to recall are 16-ounce packages of "Hawaiian Winners" with 10 sausages per package. The products were distributed in Hawaii.

USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service discovered the problem after being notified by U.S. Army officials and after follow-up testing at the retail level. Based on the military findings, the company, Redondo's Inc., began a market withdrawal of the product. FSIS will monitor the recall. No reports of illness associated with the product have been received.
